Why are there shipping delays?
The COVID-19 crisis is causing ongoing shipping delays. There are three main reasons for these delays:
- People are shopping more than ever online. Overall package volume is up by more than 50%, and at the same time, carriers like USPS and FedEx are severely understaffed.
- Shipping fulfillment services are having trouble dealing with the surge in orders. Normally they can get a package sent out on the same day that it's ordered, but now it takes 1-2 days before packages leave the warehouse.
- A large portion of packages are normally transported in the cargo holds of commercial airplanes. Because passanger flights have decreased by more than 90%, there are now long lines for packages to get a space on a plane, and some international mail is even being sent by ship or truck. The lack of space on flights is causing very significant, ongoing delays for international mail.
We know how hard it is to wait for a package, and we're sorry that we can't speed up your order. Once a package leaves our shipping warehouse, the speed at which it's delivered is totally out of our control. If your package delivery time has extended beyond the window quoted in the table above, then please reach out to us at email@example.com and we'll do our best to help.
