Why are there still shipping delays?
The COVID-19 crisis is causing ongoing shipping delays. There are three main reasons for these delays:
- People are shopping online more than ever. Overall package volume is up by more than 50%.
- Shipping carriers are having a hard time hiring enough people to deal with the increase in packages. They are severely understaffed, which causes delays.
- A large portion of packages are normally transported in the cargo holds of commercial airplanes. Because passanger flights have decreased dramatically, there are now long lines for packages to get a space on a plane, and some international mail is even being sent by ship or truck. The lack of space on flights is causing very significant, ongoing delays for international mail.
We know how hard it is to wait for a package, and we're sorry that we can't speed up your order. Once a package leaves our shipping warehouse, the speed at which it's delivered is totally out of our control.
