Mandelic acid for dark skin tones
Mandelic acid (MA) is gentle, safe, and effective for all skin tones, but it’s an especially good match for people with melanin-rich skin. This is because MA fights both acne and hyperpigmentation at once with a natural, non-irritating formula.
People with darker skin tones are blessed with lots of melanin, but this high concentration of pigment cells means that even minor damage to the skin can trigger hyperpigmentation. That’s because melanocytes (pigment forming cells) in the skin react to inflammation or injury by producing more pigment. Dark spots are a common skin concern for people of color because of their high levels of melanin and melanocytes.
Almond Clear reduces hyperpigmentation by gently exfoliating the skin to remove irregularly pigmented cells, and MA also interferes in the production of melanocytes, preventing future dark spots.
Other skincare acids absorb very quickly, sometimes resulting in irritation that leads to more hyperpigmentation. In contrast, mandelic acid’s large molecular size allows it to slowly penetrate the skin, making irritation very unlikely. MA is also anti-inflammatory, calming any inflammation that could lead to dark scars.
In addition to fading dark spots and creating a more even skin tone, Almond Clear also improves acne, folliculitis, fine lines and wrinkles, and ingrown hairs. It clears these skin concerns with it's exfoliating, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and collagen-stimulating properties.
Almond Clear makes two highly effective mandelic acid serums. The Level 1 serum is gentle enough to be used on the face and body, while the Level 2 serum is a more concentrated formula for the body only.
